Spending 24 Hours in Southern Italy.

Whether hopping between cities or on a quick business trip, sometimes we’re in a time crunch when traveling. It’s easy to get overwhelmed. There’s so much to do! So much to see! If that’s you’re case, take a deep breath. Our new feature Only One Day, will let you know the best way to spend 24 hours in a city, country, or village. In this issue we’re tackling the coast of Southern Italy.

The first place you’ll want to visit in is #Sorrento. This picturesque city is too charming to miss. With marinas, cliffs, and views of the sea, Sorrento is the perfect place to enjoy your morning. Start by grabbing an Americano in the café-lined square, and spend an hour or so sitting in the warm sun, people-watching. After grabbing an Italian pastry and soaking in the sun, walk around Piazza Torquato Tasso for some shopping. Just around the corner, you can visit a tranquil, Chiostro di San Francesco. This 14th century monastery’s breathtaking architecture will blow you away. Don’t forget to go inside to see stone carvings on the sanctuary’s historic walls.

After a morning in Sorrento, take a tour exploring the Amalfi Coast (you’ll want to book this in advanced). We recommend booking a semi-private tour so that you have a more intimate experience. Make sure that you’re tour includes a stop at the stunning village of #Positano. Known for its narrow, cobblestone streets lined with one-of-a-kind boutiques, Positano is home to pebble beach fronts and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.

Next, you’ll want to visit a small village in Salerno called Ravello. The main sight in Ravello is Villa Rufolo. Here, you’ll travel back in time — metaphorically, of course — to the 13th century to see a building once owned by wealthy Italian families. Over the centuries, the villa has been the subject of many legends, revealing the hidden treasures of the estate. Make sure you have enough time to see both the sky deck (!) and the wonderful gardens overlooking cliffs that sweep into the sea.

Once you arrive back in Sorrento, enjoy relaxing evening. If you’re looking for authentic Italian food that won’t break the bank, try Ristorante Tasso. With gourmet of pizzas and pastas, you won’t be left disappointed. Finish out your 24 hours by watching the sun set over the water with some limoncello.
